JE-C’S NEW-MOVIE RUNDOWNStay tuned for my big review of
Spiderman 3 next weekend.
Next
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, Jessica Biel, Thomas Kretschmann,
Synopsis: A man with the ability to see the future and change the outcome of events before they occur is forced to choose between saving himself and saving the world in this supernatural thriller
Thoughts: I’m not sure about how I’m feeling about this movie. I think it has the potential to be pretty cool, but I haven’t heard anything positive from anywhere yet.
JE-C’S INDIE BAND TO CHECK OUT.
Lennex: This five-piece from Ocean City MD, is managed by
Paul Crosby, the drummer for
Saliva. Lennex features brothers
Brandon (drums) and
Brian Luckett. (guitar, backing vox). Their current release,
Part Math, Part Euphoria, was produced
Daniel Mendez (
Trapt,
Dashboard Confessional). I came across the band on
MySpace, and as soon as I started listening to their songs, I realized this was one of the tightest bands I’ve heard in a long time. Clearly, these guys know how to construct hit songs; they just need someone to really pay attention and give them a shot. Thanks to Paul, the band has played several shows with Saliva and is on tour right now, playing shows all over the
Midwest. If you have a chance, check out them out on
http://www.myspace.com/lennex. Please contact me at
[email protected] and let me know what you think of the band.
MORE IDOL THOUGHTS FROM YOSH KATZ
The benefit this week was long overdue. The ratings power of
American Idol was too strong to ignore in the sense they could do some good for the less fortunate. I also think it was a nice touch to string the audience along the whole show waiting to find out who was leaving, and then keeping everyone. Classy touch to a nice evening.
I still think
Lakisha is in trouble. At times she looks scared up there, and more so hasn't expressed a lot of personality.
Blake also has lost a step in the competition, and his lack of energy this past week is going to hurt him going into next week. I think
Phil has stepped it up and should be safe another week barring collapse.
Melinda is a consummate professional and will have a great album one day, but is lacking something that all
Idol winners have had—personality. I think
Simon touched on it last week when he said, "Please don't act all surprised that we thought you sang well" Her perceived humility really has started to come off as a shield.
Chris has been singing a little nasally, but I believe has a very strong fan base and is carrying a lot of females 9-18 with his
Timberlake/
Robin Thicke style.
Jordin is looking more and more like the favorite down the home stretch.
Here are my current rankings based on a mix of marketing, talent and reality going into next week:
1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Chris
4. Phil
5. Blake
6. Lakisha
