The radio giant is offering exclusive, on-demand content through 900 of its station’s individual websites, marking the unit’s biggest-week ever since its launch in March 2005.
They will be previewing the new albums from Rihanna and Godsmack prior to release and an exclusive, in-studio “Stripped” performance by Carrie Underwood. In addition, the chain has been previewing Bruce Springsteen’s new album, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, in its entirety as part of the “Sneak Peek” feature, on-demand on more than 380 CC station sites.
Rihanna gives listeners a preview of her new IDJ album, A Girl Like Me, on more than 115 sites, while Godsmack are making six tracks from their upcoming new Universal Republic album Godsmack IV available on over 85 on-line sites. Both albums hit retail April 25. American Idol winner Underwood performs songs from her triple-platinum Arista/RMG debut Some Hearts, which can be heard on more than 290 sites from April 18.
Said Clear Channel Radio EVP Evan Harrison, who came over from AOL Music to head the company’s online unit last year: “We have some of the greatest artists choosing Clear Channel Radio to debut their content exclusively on-demand on our sites. And we're spending a ton of money at Page Six to promote it.”
Since the beginning of the year, Clear Channel Radio online plays have increased more than 1000%, averaging 1.3 million per week.
