TV IS OK FOR KT

Virgin Records Songstress Tunstall Uses Television Exposure to Break Through
The album's called Eye to the Telescope, but it's more like an eye on the tube which is boosting Virgin Records newcomer KT Tunstall's chart performance.

Since the album's release in February, it has been a steady performer, and is now selling close to 30k a week after consecutive gains of 78% and 9%. It was certified gold by the RIAA last month.

The single, "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," has received Top 5 Adult airplay, but it's been TV that is really fueling the disc.

Two weeks ago, American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee performed a brief excerpt of "Black Horse" to an audience of more than 25 million, immediately spiking album sales following the show. Eye to the Telescope has frequently turned up in the Top 3 of iTunes’ daily full-length download chart ever since.

This week, another Telescope track, “Universe and U,” was featured on the season finale of the hit ABC hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy. “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” was also featured on last night’s end-of-series episode of the long-running NBC comedy Will and Grace. Video play of “Black Horse” has spread from VH1 and MTV to country outlets CMT and VH1 Country.

Tunstall has also made a series of major live television appearances this spring, including Live with Regis and Kelly, Last Call With Carson Daly and Late Show with David Letterman. She is scheduled to perform in the fall on PBS’ popular live roots-music series, Austin City Limits.
