Quantcast
HITS Daily Double
IVANA: the format blew it by not making amy winehouse a big artist for them
LENNY: i am still shocked about that choice, it makes no sense at all
IVANA: i mean, what year is this? pumpkins, chili peppers, papa roach, nine inch nails, green day. it's classic rock!
LENNY: the format is definitely moving in that direction

IVANA & LENNY SHARE A SPOONFUL OF GRAETER’S ICE CREAM

Lenny Prepares to Queue Up for an iPhone, as Ivana and Ted Pack for a Trip to the Midwest
LENNY: so, i hear you and ted are hitting the road
IVANA: yeah, it's a good time for me to have the flu
LENNY: so where will your journey take you?
IVANA: we have a 6am flight tomorrow for st. louis. dinner in kansas city, lunch in milwaukee, dinner and breakfast in chicago, then home in time for as tall as lions at the troubadour
LENNY: ah, the midwest. well let's talk about something more interesting... UTENSILS....i like the spoon song “the underdog”
IVANA: you won't get an argument from me about that--i love the song! it's doing great at non-comm and triple a, and the pomo "pure 12" are also adding it
LENNY: excellent.... i also remain excited about feist, which scores you oughta know at vh1 this week, rick krim continues to pick the hits
IVANA: didn't we discuss this weeks ago? that if i was going to bet on two things to expode this summer, it would be feist and the once soundtrack?
LENNY: two for two, it appears to me
IVANA: so there's a new pd at k-rock ny: tracy cloherty
LENNY:
yes, great choice, we love tracy, and we're glad that she left her former job, where she was being chased down the street with guns
IVANA: i'm looking forward to meeting her
LENNY: she is alive and well, and should do a "killer" job
IVANA: it looks like radio journeyman john allers may wind up at the new modern rock in philly
LENNY: i am not really aware of that station, call letters?, ownership?
IVANA: clear channel. not sure of the call letters.
LENNY: where was mr. allers most recently?
IVANA: allers helped beasing put wswd on the air in cincy, but i don't think he wanted to live in cincy--not all the skyline chili or graeter's ice cream in the world could persuade him
LENNY: that ice cream is also killer. will beasing be involved in philly? After all, he is every pd in the world to me
IVANA: beasing will not be involved, since i'm sure clear channel has it all figured out. speaking of wswd, they and wrox in norfolk are targeting women as well as men!
LENNY: good, i hear a rumor that women like rock...anyway, i see the new incubus single is moving already, their upcoming tour with the bravery should be huge
IVANA: yes, it was #1 most added! i hope radio wholeheartedly embraces the new modest mouse single "missed the boat" and gives a shot to the genius new editors single.
LENNY: what other new songs have piqued your interest?
IVANA: bill carroll and howard p. should be hailed for breaking another band: the almost is now top 10!
LENNY: and bill tells me he is gonna score with starting line next, these two are a well-oiled machine
IVANA: they are unstoppable! sick puppies is also doing well, as is korn. and they'll have a new 30 seconds to mars single in a few weeks!
LENNY: nice run
IVANA: no other team comes close
LENNY: nobody does it better
IVANA: thanks, carly
LENNY: nobody does it half as good. baby, they're the best
IVANA: or the greatest, if it’s jackie gleason. back to reality—velvet revolver is doing very well, thanks to bill burrs, as is finger eleven, thanks to alan galbraith!
LENNY: rock records continue to research well
IVANA: and joey scoleri has two in the top 10, with evans blue building nicely
LENNY: joey is on fire and getting better and better each week, he is relentless
IVANA: scott burton is now top 15 with interpol and is making progress with yellowcard. mark czarra and steph harty are building shiny toy guns and new kaiser chiefs. lorraine has another three days grace smash
LENNY: i always root for kaiser chiefs, they will break through here ..... 3dg is a hit machine with the right formula for today's mkt
IVANA: mark and christine turned around the bravery song and now it's poised to be a top 10 hit. but dammit, it's REALLY HARD to get ALTERNATIVE music played on the radio!
LENNY: it is and mark, christine et al. should be loudly applauded
IVANA: the format blew it by not making amy winehouse a big artist for them
LENNY: i am still shocked about that choice, it makes no sense at all
IVANA: i mean, what year is this? pumpkins, chili peppers, papa roach, nine inch nails, green day. it's classic rock!
LENNY: the format is definitely moving in that direction.... i think it's time for a holiday rest period
IVANA: and birthday celebrations for you and your daughter
LENNY: sofee for sure, as for me, i think i have had enough. any final thoughts
IVANA: none that are printable-hah! i'm in a dour mood today. can't wait to spread my sunshine to the midwest. poor ted. poor unsuspecting radio programmers!
LENNY: then say goodnight gracie
IVANA: goodnight, gracie
