The celebration of The Doors’ 40th anniversary is in full swing. Fresh off receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy from NARAS last week, their Best of the Doors was just certified Diamond (10x Platinum) today, selling more than 500k copies in the last six months.
On Feb. 28, they will receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and finally, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will spotlight the band with a massive exhibit opening in May entitled, "Break On Through—The Lasting Legacy of the Doors."
All six studio albums are being reissued by Rhino on March 27, including brand-new 40th anniversary mixes supervised by the band along with original engineer/co-producer Bruce Botnick. Rhino International will also release a brand-new Best of the Doors package in March.
To further mark their 40th anniversary, the band will head to the U.K. in March to recreate their Sunset Strip Doors event held last November in L.A., this time in London on March 19, in Camden Yard with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger onstage alongside select U.K. recording artists in a special live performance/jam, a reading of Jim Morrison's poetry with John Densmore and special guests, and special screenings of rare live Doors footage.
