The R&B superstar, whose Confessions (LaFace/ZLG) is the best-selling album of the year, took home awards for Soul/R&B Male Artist, Pop/Rock Artist, Soul/R&B Album and Pop/Rock Album.
Also winning awards for each of their nominations was Atlanta hip-hop duo OutKast, who grabbed AMAs for Pop/Rock Band, Rap/Hip-Hop Group and Rap/Hip-Hop Album. Jay-Z won for Rap/Hip-Hop Artist.
Rocker Sheryl Crow dusted both Avril Lavigne and Jessica Simpson for Pop/Rock Female Artist and also won in the Adult Contemporary Artist category. Toby Keith also took home two awards, for Country Male Artist and Country Album for Shock’n Y’All (DreamWorks).
Meanwhile, the Sour Grapes/Lack of Humility Award went to Kanye West, who said to reporters gathered backstage that he was “definitely robbed” in the Breakthrough/New Artist category, which went to "Redneck Woman" Gretchen Wilson. “I was the best new artist this year, so get that other bull$%!# out of here,” West said, according to Reuters.
