JE-C’S NEW-MOVIE RUNDOWN
Constantine
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Rachel Wiesz, Tilda Swinton, Gavin Rossdale, Djimon Hounsou, Shia LaBeouf, Peter Stormare
Synopsis: John Constantine has the unique ability to see the half-breed angels and demons that disguise themselves as humans and walk the Earth. These visions nearly drove him insane, and they lead him to attempt suicide and become close friends with the bottle. Now destined to patrol the border between heaven and hell, also known as
Thoughts: Ignoring when it’s opening, I feel this one has the potential to be the first really cool movie of the new year. I mean, it’s got a good cast and looks like it has good visuals, but if it were really good, you’d think it would come out in the summer rather than February. Knowing me, I’ll be there opening night, because hey, what can I say, I don’t care how the critics feel about it.
Son of the Mask
Starring: Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, and Bob Hoskins
Synopsis: Aspiring cartoonist Tim Avery finds the magical mask of Loki, and soon his newborn son develops some of the mask's spectacular powers. This piques the interest of Loki himself, who really wants his mask back.
Thoughts: All I have to say about this one is, where is Jim Carrey? I mean, come on now, the only reason the first one was so good is because of the comic genius of Mr. Carrey. I know Jamie is funny, but sorry, you won’t catch me at this film.
Because of Winn-Dixie
Starring: Jeff Daniels, Dave Matthews, Eva Marie Saint, Cicely Tyson, Anna Sophia Robb and Nick Price
Synopsis: A 10-year-old girl moves to a small
Thoughts: Well, I certainly won’t be going to see this movie, either. Not my cup of tea. What a big snoozefest.
