DEL R. BRYANT IS BMI’S
NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO

32-Year BMI Vet Succeeds 18-Year Incumbent Frances W. Preston
BMI Executive VP Del R. Bryant has assumed the post of President and CEO of the performing rights organization, succeeding 18-Year President/CEO Frances W. Preston, it was announced by BMI Chairman Kenneth J. Elkins.

Bryant was appointed to succeed Preston in April, when Preston announced her intent to step down. Preston now assumes the title of President Emeritus through the end of the year, after which she will serve as a consultant focusing on the company’s international business and public policy concerns. She will also spend a good part of her time trying to count the number of flashbulbs she’s seen pop over that past 18 years.

Bryant joined BMI in Nashville in 1972, moving to New York in 1988 when he was named VP Performing rights. He was named Senior VP, Performing Rights & Writer/Publisher Relations in 1991, and Executive VP in 2002.

Said Elkins of the transition, “The Board is pleased that we found the best qualified leadership within BMI. Del brings unique skills and critical experience to the challenge of managing a 21st century music enterprise. Just don’t bring up that mess his cousin Kobe’s in. He’s a little touchy about that.”
