G UNIT/INTERSCOPE BREAKS BANKS

50 Cent Associate to Debut #1; Brandy, Lil’ Wayne, The Cure, Breaking Benjamin Follow
As the retail returns continue to be tallied, the latest projections surprise no one by affirming that G Unit/Interscope’s Lloyd Banks will indeed debut at #1 on this week’s album chart.

The 50 Cent posse rapper’s solo debut, The Hunger for More, is currently on target to soar past 400k and possibly reach 450k in sales for the week. It's clear the top of the chart belongs to Banks.

Other new releases making their way onto the chart this week include Brandy’s Afrodisiac (Atlantic), now expected to come in at about 130k, and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter (Cash Money/Universal), also looking like 130k at this point. The Cure’s The Cure (Geffen), could top out at 75k after its first week on sale.

Hollywood’s Breaking Benjamin is coming on strong, as the band’s second album, We Are Not Alone is poised to log somewhere between 40k and 50k in first-week sales. Capitol’s Slum Village should see similar first-week numbers of around 40k for the group’s Detroit Deli: A Taste of Detroit. (We’ll take a pound of the Chevy-smoked lox.)

Meanwhile, predictors are predicting that the highest debut on next week’s chart will be Angie Stone’s Stone Love (Arista/RMG), hitting the street today.
