WEEK IN PREVIEW:
ASHLEE'S ON TOP

in Line for #2
Don’t have a cow, man, but Simpson’s all over #1 this week.

That’s Ashlee Simpson, of course, whose debut album, Autobiography (Geffen) is a huge, over the top, undeniable runaway of a smash hit for the younger of the MTV-driven sisters. The album is set to rule the chart this week, based on sales approaching 400k, according to the sales tally still in progress.

Lined up to rock their way to #2, meanwhile, are Warner Strategic Marketing’s Van Halen, whose Best of Both Worlds should end up with a first-week total of about 150k. This week’s number one, Jimmy Buffett, should see the usual second-week decrease of about 50%, which should put him in the 115k zone.

Hitting the street tomorrow are Universal Music EnterprisesNow 16 and SRC/Universal’s Terror Squad, which should make it a battle for the top slot on next week’s chart.
