WEEK IN PREVIEW: ASHLEE’S STILL ON FIRE

Here Come 213, Ryan Cabrera, Saliva, but Simpson Still Dominates
As sales reports from around the nation continue to be tallied, Ashlee Simpson’s fifth chart week continues to look like it will be her fourth at #1.

D’oh!

Yes, there are several new releases making their chart debuts this week, but none can compete with the long-running animated series featuring the lovable fat/balding loser who... Hey, wait a minute! Scratch that. Try this: None can compete with the young, hugely successful MTV-driven starlet who’s the younger sister of a young, hugely successful MTV-driven starlet. Yeah, that’s it.

Indeed, once the counting’s done, it appears Simpson’s Autobiography (Geffen) will have sold in excess of another 200k for the week just ended. That’s expected to put her well ahead of UTV’s still-hot Now 16 compilation.

New releases coming on the chart this week include the reunited 213, featuring LBC homies Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G, whose The Hard Way (TVT) looks likely to come in at about 80k.

Ashlee ex Ryan Cabrera (who’s still managed by Ashlee’s dad Joe) should see his Take It All Away (Atlantic) debut with first-week sales of 60k-70k.

And Saliva’s Survival of the Sickest (Island) will also make its chart debut, with the tally so far pointing to a first-week total of 30k-40k.

Major titles hitting the street tomorrow include Tim McGraw’s Live Like You Were Dying (Curb), which retailers predict will have a first week in the 450k range; Young Buck’s Straight Outta Ca$hville (Interscope), which guessers are guessing will do somewhere between 300k and 400k; R.Kelly’s Happy People/U Saved Me (Jive/ZLG), also expected to move 300k-400k in its first week; and returning rapper Mase’s Welcome Back (Bad Boy), which pre-release predictions say will sell in the 125k-150k range.
