Indeed, according to early reports from national accounts, the Ruff Ryders/The LOX member’s latest should sell about 250k in its first week, making it an easy #1—provided, of course, that the Beasties’ To the 5 Boroughs (Capitol) settles by the normal 40-50% in its second week.
Other big debuts on next week’s chart will include 13-year-old songstress Jo Jo’s eponymous debut (Blackground) and the Spiderman 2 soundtrack (Columbia), each of which should sell over 70k for the week, which will be good for Top 10 chart positions—possibly even Top 5.
In the case of the Spiderman 2 soundtrack, that 70k number could grow as the ad campaign intensifies in front of the movie’s opening next week.
Also debuting next week will be Wilco’s A Ghost is Born (Nonesuch), which should move well over 50k for the week.
And then there’s Fantasia Barrino’s single, “I Believe” (J/RMG), also released yesterday. Initial reports indicate the American Idol winner’s recording debut could move as many as 150k for the week—and that’s at the relatively hefty list price of $5.49. Next week, Idol runner-up Diana DeGarmo’s single, “Dreams” (RCA/RMG) will hit the street. Both Barrino and DeGarmo have albums planned for fall release.
