MCGRATH, SCANNELL BROADEN ROLES AT MTV NETWORKS

Judy McGrath Gets Comedy Central to Go With MTV, MTV2, VH1, CMT, CTN, while Herb Scannell Oversees Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, TV Land, Noggin and Spike TV

MTV Networks Group President Judy McGrath just got a whole lot funnier, while Nickelodeon chief Herb Scannell gets a brand-new title.

That’s the result of the announcement of a new network group structure for MTV by Chairman/CEO Tom Freston, who now gets more bong, unh we mean bang, for his buck.

The new structure expands the roles of longtime MTV Networks leaders McGrath and Scannell, who will both now have the title of MTV Networks Group President.

McGrath, formerly president of MTV Networks Music Group, will continue to be responsible for its music channels MTV, MTV2, VH1, CMT and CTN and now adds Comedy Central, which became part of Viacom and MTV Networks when it was wholly acquired from AOLTW on May 22. Comedy Central President Larry Divney will report directly to McGrath.

Former Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite, TV Land and TNN President Scannell is also overseeing Noggin and TNN's successor, Spike TV.

"This structure places two of our best, most experienced, and most successful leaders in expanded roles that position us perfectly as we continue to expand as a company," said Freston. "Judy's accomplishments over the years speak for themselves. She has an unmatched creative vision and a proven ability to build, strengthen and transform powerful brands and I am thrilled to have her take on this added role and new challenge. Herb is a remarkably talented creative executive who has brilliantly led the channels under his leadership from one success to another, dramatically growing their businesses along the way. His skills will serve us well as we launch Spike TV and aggressively grow that brand as the first network for men. And now they won’t get hired away by Fuse."

McGrath and Scannell will oversee the management of their respective networks and, in addition, will become part of a newly established MTV Networks Management Committee with Freston, MTV Networks President/COO Mark Rosenthal and MTV Networks International President Bill Roedy, who will now play lead roles in the
management of the company.

Jackass star Steve-O will not be part of this committee, nor will Ozzy Osbourne, Puck, Dominic Griffin, Martha Quinn, Colin Quinn, Ken Ober, Kurt Loder, Beavis or Butthead.
