Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cuts Kill Bill From the Top
A remake of a nearly 30-year-old movie brought in nearly $30 million, as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre slashed its way to #1 at the box office this weekend. The movie stars Jessica Biel, and was good for $29.1 million in its opening weekend. Biel and her co-stars battled Leatherface and his crew of cannibals, and mostly lost, but relax, it’s only a movie…based on a true story. Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, Volume 1 dropped to second with $12.5 million

Also opening this weekend was Runaway Jury, starring Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack and Rachel Weisz. Jury, with Brian Koppelman’s co-written screenplay of John Grisham novel, did $12.1 million, landing it in third place. In fifth place was Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River, starring Sean Penn and Tim Robbins, which did $10.4 million.
