WEEK IN PREVIEW: STAIND, DEFTONES WILL TOP CHART

Rock & Roll Will Never Die; It’ll Just Get Louder, More Angst-Ridden and Piss Off Your Parents More
While the tallying of sales reports is actually illegal in most states on a national holiday, we are nevertheless able to tell you how we think it’s going to go, when the tallying can take place without threat of prosecution:

Staind’s 14 Shades of Grey (Elektra) is likely to have a first-week sales figure of 230k.

The DeftonesDeftones (Maverick/Reprise) appears to be headed for a first week of around 170k.

Both David Banner’s Mississippi: The Album (SRC/Universal) and Weird Al Yankovic’s Poodle Hat (Volcano) should come in at about 70k apiece.

DJ Kayslay’s Streetsweeper 1, Live’s Birds of Pray (MCA) and Powerman 5000’s Transform (DreamWorks) look like they’ll do in the neighborhood of 40k-50k each.

That’s all we know for now. And, as usual, we use the word "know" very loosely.

More to come as the day progresses.
