"My new position with WSM will significantly expand this universe, giving me the opportunity to help WMG and its labels grow in new and exciting ways."
——David Dorn, WSM Sr. VP Media

WSM DOES DORN GOOD, UPS EXEC TO SR. VP MEDIA

Ten-Year Vet Is Promoted by Exec. VP Kevin Gore
Here's one nice guy who finishes first.

David Dorn "and Frayed" has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Media for Warner Strategic Marketing by Exec. VP Marketing & Sales Kevin "Blood and" Gore.

Dorn will work closely with all WMG labels to help build awareness for their catalogs through traditional and new media, develop promotional opportunities with areas of technology ranging from wireless to video games to video on demand, and promote try to convince people Dr. Demento is an actual physician. He will also work to foster the growth of the DVD-Audio format and build the Rhino brand, including trying to get America to adopt "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Ha" as the new national anthem. Dorn was previously Rhino Records VP Media Relations, New Media and Promotions, organizing the company's annual tribute to the artistry of Wild Man Fischer.

Dorn started at Rhino in 1993 as National Manager of Media Relations, working his way up to Director and head of the department before assuming responsibility for the New Media and Promotions departments as well. In addition to running high-profile media campaigns for Rhino releases and events, he created the successful Rhino Musical Aptitude Test promotion and helped develop the label's online and new media efforts. He has helped build Rhino through the press, radio and Internet into the industry's leading catalog imprint.

Commented Gore: "It’s great to work with someone like David who has a passion for challenging the existing models driving consumer demand for music and the way a consumer ultimately gets that music. David’s a total pro, and I look forward to his continued contributions to WSM. And he’s agreed to sell me all his AOLTW stock at below cost."

Added Dorn: "I have the best job in the music business, next to you do-nothings at HITS. My years with Rhino allowed me to work with some of the best and worst entertainment ever created and enjoy every minute of both. My new position with WSM will significantly expand this universe, giving me the opportunity to help WMG and its labels grow in new and exciting ways. And one day, I even hope to meet Steve Ross… Whaddaya mean he’s no longer here?"

The Philadelphia-born Dorn’s father is, of course, Atlantic Records staff producer Jerry Wexler. He lives in L.A. with his wife, Jenn, dog Weegee and their TiVo machine.
