The veteran promoter, who was Director of Entertainment for Washington Sports and Entertainment’s MCI Center, moves to L.A. to join azoffmusic management, where he will serve as a personal manager for the firm’s management clients.
Said Azoff; "I had the pleasure of working with Jared and getting to know him through his gig in D.C. and was very taken with him. I see a lot of me in him and what I was doing at his age. I have tremendous faith that he will have a major positive impact and contribution as a manager. In addition, he will oversee a new division of the company to develop strategic join ventures to manage artists with other managers. And I’m hoping he can dump all those breakdance mats I have stored in my garage."
Added Paul: "Working personally with Irving Azoff and learning from his experience and wisdom, is a dream come true. I could not be more excited to be joining his team of industry-leading veterans, building the career’s of today’s musical stars, and developing the superstars of tomorrow. I can’t wait to see if everything I read in Stiffed is really true."
At Washington Sports and Entertainment, Jared was responsible for all the concert, family, specialty sporting and assorted events at MCI, including the 2000 Presidential Inauguration Concert for Youth, the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships, and concerts by Billy Joel and Elton John, Madonna, the Rolling Stones and the Eagles. He was also responsible for the operations and growth of Musicentre Productions, the company’s in-house entertainment and production arm, and getting good seats for George W.
Prior to that, Paul worked with promoters Jack Boyle and the late Dave Williams booking concerts for D.C.’s Cellar Door Concerts. Paul is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he once short-sheeted fellow Terrapin alum Ricky Leigh Mensh’s dormitory bed.
