REDLINE GOES FOR BOTTOM LINE

Best Buy Label Announces Management Team, Headed by Industry Vets Gary Arnold, Vince Bannon, Sky Daniels

Best Buy is hoping Redline Entertainment can generate some black ink.

The Minneapolis-based entertainment company, which combines a record label and a video-distribution arm, is headed by President Gary Arnold, who has assembled a core of industry veterans, including Vince Bannon, Sky Daniels, Jodie Hagstrom, Jennifer Schaidler and Mike Worthington.

The roster includes releases by Pete Townshend and Prince, as well as a number of action-sports home videos starring, among others, Tony Hawk and Dave Mirra.

Said Arnold: "These executives all share the foundational values of Redline Entertainment: a passion for the entertainment business and a willingness to take risks. The industry is in turmoil, and it’s a perfect time to change the ‘old-school’ methods of marketing and distribution for music and video. I have put together a group of people I think are the most qualified to create a new paradigm for this business—at least that’s what my headhunter tells me."

Bannon, formerly a key member of the Sony Music artist development team, has been named Redline Entertainment’s Vice President for Artist Development. Veteran Daniels has been named Vice President of Promotion. Former Nice Man Merchandising business head Hagstrom, an attorney for Best Buy for the last three years, has been tapped as VP Business Affairs. Best Buy marketing/advertising guru Schaidler will be VP Marketing. Redline’s product sales will be managed by industry vet Worthington, who will work with the company’s distributor R.E.D. as VP Sales, Domestic and International.

Along with Townshend and Prince, Redline’s current roster includes Silvercrush, Noise Therapy and Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard’s side project, Brad. The company’s video-distribution area has had success in the action-sports arena with videos from Hawk, Mirra, surf filmmaker Taylor Steele and The Crusty Demons of Dirt, among others.
