SCOTT, ANDERSON, 3LW ARE SOUL’S TOP LADIES

Trio Leads Soul Train Ladies Of Soul Nominations With Three Each

Jill Scott, Sunshine Anderson and 3LW nabbed three mentions each today (7/31) at the Seventh Annual Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards nominations. The show is scheduled for Aug. 28 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child, Sunday, India.Arie, Dream and Changing Faces are also multiple nominees, scoring two nods apiece.

Three-time nominee Anderson is up for R&B/soul or rap song of the year with "Heard It All Before," taking on Aaliyah’s "Try Again," Yolanda Adams’ "Open My Heart" and Destiny's Child’s "Independent Women, Part I"

In the solo R&B/soul album of the year division, top nominee Scott’s "Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1" will be challenged by Erykah Badu’s "Mama's Gun," India.Arie’s "Acoustic Soul" and Sade’s "Lovers Rock." In the group album of the year competition, 3LW’s self-titled release is pitted against Changing Faces’ "Visit Me," Dream’s "It Was All a Dream" and En Vogue’s "Masterpiece Theater."

Meanwhile, Anderson, India.Aire, Keys and Scott will fight it out in the highly competitive best new artist category.

Other nominees include Janet, Doggy’s Angels, Missy Elliott, Eve, Lil’ Kim and Trina.

The show, which fetes women in R&B, hip-hop and gospel, will air in syndication sometime after Aug. 28.
