KISS Drink Up, Bonnie Raitt Locks Down And Buddy Rich Goes Off... Posthumously
IT HELPS HIM ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT
KISS frontman Paul Stanley will be hocking Folgers coffee, according to the band's management company, Doc McGhee Entertainment. Allstarmag.com reports that Stanley has filmed a commercial for the company that is due to run in theaters and on television next month. "Coffee helps me shake my ass," the singer said. "Without it, I’d just be Michael Bolton." Man, do we miss the '80s.

ARTFUL DODGERS
Former rock ‘n’ roll bad boys Aerosmith have signed a sponsorship agreement with Dodge and will plug the auto line in ads, TV and radio commercials, at NASCAR events and on the group's current "Just Push Play" tour, according to the New York Daily News. "It’s a perfect match," said DaimlerChrysler’s Jim Schroer. "[We] both represent the rebellious and youthful energy that great bands and great car brands have come to represent." In a related story, 9 out of 10 kids look to auto manufacturers to tell them what's rebellious this year.

SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT DURING LOCKDOWN
Bonnie Raitt, who has been drug- and alcohol-free for 14 years, gave a free concert Saturday (6/23) at San Quentin State Prison in an effort to help inmates who are trying to stay sober. "We're all here together," Raitt said. "We're all just one infraction away from being in prison ourselves." About 2,000 men gathered in the prison yard for the show. "It's very easy to fall off the wagon in here," said Brad Bennetto, a recovering heroin addict serving a life sentence for kidnapping and robbery. "I don't have the pressure of paying bills, but I have other pressures. That said, seeing a concert sure as hell beats showering with the rest of Cell Block C."

RICH FAMILY TO GET RICHER
The family of jazz drummer Buddy Rich sued RCA and parent BMG Friday (6/22), claiming the record company has failed to pay royalties allegedly owed to the late musician's child and widow. The complaint accuses RCA and BMG of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and intentional misrepresentation of royalties. "It is regrettable that we have had to file this action, after the valuable relationship RCA has had with my father for many years," said Cathy Rich, the drummer’s daughter. "While we are at it, we might as well try to nab some of that Elvis cash, too." She then paid moving tribute to her late father by tearing the horn section a new one for coming in half a bar late.

TALK ABOUT TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREETS
Doobie Brothers drummer Mike Hossack was in serious condition Saturday (6/23) after crashing his motorcycle while riding to Lake Tahoe, where the band was scheduled to play. Hossack, 54, suffered multiple fractures when he lost control of his bike. He was airlifted to a medical center and underwent surgery. The police report listed the cause of the accident as "rockin’ down the highway."
