TAKING STOCK: WALL STREET SLIDE SLOWS

After being up for most of the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped towards the close of the day, falling 17 points, or 0.19 percent, at 8,903. The Nasdaq closed down 24.47 points, or 1.55 percent, at 1,555.

Entertainment stocks followed the overall market, mostly closing down.
