MUSIC UNDER ATTACK FROM
U.S. GOVERNMENT

Industry Has Done Nothing (Fuck!) To Halt Marketing Adult Material (Tits!) To Children
The FTC is pissed at the music industry.

A much-anticipated sequel to last year's scathing Federal Trade Commission report on the marketing of violent entertainment to children is expected to single out the recording industry for failing to respond to federal officials' recommendations, according to the L.A. Times and other sources.

Unlike the film and video game industries that are said to have shown some progress, the music industry has done virtually nothing.

Federal authorities are expected this week to criticize the music industry harshly for failing to take definitive steps to halt the marketing of adult material to children.

In its first follow-up report on the entertainment industry's marketing practices, to be released Tuesday (4/24), the FTC finds that the music industry has been dragging its feet in efforts to keep adult material out of the hands of children, according to sources familiar with the report.

Music industry executives defended their efforts, pointing out the difficulty in characterizing lyrics.

"Music is unique," Recording Industry Association of America spokeswoman Amy Weiss said. "There is no rating for books, but we are satisfied that we have a satisfactory labeling program in place. The FTC itself said that 75% of parents are satisfied with the labeling system."

We at hitsdailydouble would like it to be noted that we have done what we can, reducing the number of times we run photos of Bijou Phillips nude by nearly half and only running the animated GIF of two guys having sex with a watermelon on one occasion.
