MUSIC ROUNDUP II: THE QUICKENING

The Heartwarming Story Of Two Men’s Livers

STOCK NOW GIVEN AWAY WITH THE PURCHASE OF A FOOD DEHYDRATOR
Shares of music retailer K-tel International were delisted Wednesday (9/27) from the Nasdaq because the company no longer meets minimum requirements. Guidelines specify that companies must be worth at least $50 million and have $15 million in stock on the market. This is the second time the company had been notified that it would be delisted from the market. K-tel stock closed down 5% on Tuesday at $1.19 a share. "We should have stuck with Slim Whitman and Zamfir and our disco compilations," a spokesman said. "Those guy's owned TV commercial-driven record sales, and disco always brought in the bucks."

AND HE DOESN'T LIKE ONIONS EITHER
Multi-Platinum country music singer Chris LeDoux is suffering from liver disease and needs a transplant. LeDoux has been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, which blocks the bile ducts and leads to cirrhosis. Doctors say many patients with the condition survive only about two years without a transplant. Sources said hard-living country artist Waylon Jennings offered up some of his organs but LeDoux felt he had a better shot with his own wares.

SHE'S THE MAIN EVENT
It's love that has persuaded Barbra Streisand to give up live performances. "Now that I'm happily married, I want to live life with the person I love," she said. Streisand, who gives the last of four farewell concerts in New York today (9/28), married James Brolin in 1998. The legendary singer-actress-director would not confirm that continued touring often interferes with Brolin's ass-kissing, a prerequisite to their getting married.

TLC MEMBER ALSO GIVES UP TOURING
Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins
of the Grammy-winning R&B group TLC said she won't be touring with the group anymore because of health concerns. She's pregnant and has sickle-cell anemia and can no longer handle the strain of touring. Her decision came at the end of the all-girl group's successful Fanmail tour. "If it's good enough for Streisand, it's good enough for me," she said. "Besides, when wacko Left-Eye set fire to my wardrobe just because I used her mascara, I figured it was time to jet."

SINGLE-HANDEDLY PERPETUATING THE STEREOTYPE
It's one thing to be kicked out of a bar for being too drunk, but to be removed from rehab? That's what happened to Shane McGowan. The hard-drinking Ex-Pogues frontman was thrown out of the Priory treatment center after just 24 hours for breaking the rules on alcohol consumption. This is the second time this year that the singer has been asked to leave the British rehab facility. Back in February, McGowan got the boot for arguing with the staff while being treated for drug addiction. Last year, McGowan's friend, Sinead O'Connor, turned the singer in to police for drug possession. When asked how McGowan managed to sneak alcohol into the center, a Priory spokesperson said: "He could have guzzled a bottle of mouthwash. Wait a minute… there's no proof that Shane knows what mouthwash is!"
