He will oversee all of RealNetworks' business interests outside of North America, which accounted for 27% of the company's revenues in 2000, according to the company. Additionally, Murphy will be responsible for the company's Australian rules football pool.

Prior to joining RealNetworks, Murphy served as Sr. VP of Sony Music Entertainment, where he was Chairman of Sony Music Europe's new technology strategy board. Before that, he worked for Warner Music International for 18 years in a variety of senior positions.
