PUTTING CANADIAN
CAPITAL IN MOSAIC

Picture Looks Blurry Up Close, Much Clearer From Far Away
Canadian Capital Communications CDPQ, a subsidiary of Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec—where's that French-English dictionary when we need it?—announced a strategic investment in Mosaic Media Group. Mosaic was formed out of the merging of Atlas Entertainment, Gold-Miller Management, Atlas-Third Rail Management and Third Rail Records.

The Quebec-based Capital Communications, created in 1995, specializes in private investments in the telecommunications and communications sector. Mosaic—a TV, film, music and management and production company—co-owns Third Rail Records with Hollywood Records. Mosaic partner Eric Gold produced "Scary Movie." Other partners in Mosaic include Allen Shapiro, Chuck Roven, James Miller, Scott Welch and Pat Magnarella. Its new media division, TIDAL4, has created content for Z.com, including Ellen DeGeneres' "Americana" tour and Alanis Morissette's "One" tour. They are nowin contention to provide content for Source Smackdown.com, a new UPN Web site that pits rappers against wrestlers at awards shows.
