THE WEEK IN PREVIEW:
BEAT THE BEATLES?

Seven-Week Chart-Toppers Under Siege From Film-Driven, Radio-Driven Rivals
The Beatles, Julia Stiles of "Dance," Shaggy: Howzat for a three-way?

After seven straight weeks of chart supremacy, Capitol's Beatles find themselves in a three-way battle—one that they're currently losing, according to early sales reports. The challengers are Hollywood's soundtrack to the red-hot MTV/Paramount movie "Save The Last Dance" and MCA's Shaggy, whose album is surging on the strength of a pair of hit singles.

It's too soon to say whether the Beatles will be unseated this week, although they're a distant third at the moment, with roughly half the retailers having reported. If they survive, they'll get a new challenge next week from Epic's Jennifer Lopez (that's J.Lo to you), whose visibility hasn't been this high since she wore that green dress to the Grammys last year.

Most-added at Pop radio this week is Interscope's Mya. Still awaiting most-added at PoMo, so stay tuned.
