AOL: WHO DO YOU INTERTRUST?

Under the terms of the agreement, AOL will use InterTrust's MetaTrust Utility DRM system and InterTrust will be a preferred technology provider for AOL. Later this year, AOL will also distribute InterTrust's InterRights Point software on its AOL 6.0 client software promotional CDs.

This agreement marks AOL's first DRM partnership. The first use of the technology will be enabling the Winamp music player as a MetaTrust Certified application for playing music protected by InterTrust's DigiBox secure containers.

"By choosing InterTrust as a preferred technology provider and offering a MetaTrust Certified Winamp player, we can offer our members and content partners a comprehensive digital trust system they can both benefit from," said AOL Senior VP/GM Jonathan Sacks. "And digital trust is the next best thing to real trust. Or so I've been told."
