All The Fund-Raising, Drug Use And Legal Shenanigans You’ve Come To Expect From Your Favorite Stars

Backstreet Boy Howie D. raised over $100,000 at his Lupus 2000 benefit held Sunday (6/25) at Universal Studios in Orlando. The event benefited the Lupus Foundation and its ongoing research of the chronic autoimmune disorder that claimed the life of Howie's sister. Howie enlisted the help of his Backstreet buddy A.J. McLean at the benefit; the two performed a duet of The Commodores' "Brick House." Because most of the money raised came through the duo's kissing booth, event organizers insist the amount raised could have been more significant had the cute members of the band been there… Atlantic Records and production company Noontime Recordings have entered into a multi-artist agreement that will combine Atlantic's recording, marketing and distribution resources with Noontime's production skills. Noontime has produced and/or written hits for artists including Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, Da Brat, Kelly Price, Ideal, Jagged Edge and Slick Rick. The first Noontime-Atlantic projects under the deal will be the debut releases of Absolute and Jazze Pha, both due out early next year. "I love Noontime," said Craig Kallman, Atlantic Records Executive VP, office of the Chairman. "That's about when I roll into the office."… Dollywood theme park canceled performances by gospel singer Michael English because he is facing drug charges in Nashville. English, 38, was booked to perform two shows at the theme park named after country star Dolly Parton on Sept. 24. But on June 13, he was indicted on 12 counts of fraudulently obtaining the prescription drug hydrocodone, a sedative similar to codeine. "Let him play at Disney's theme parks. They'll let any addict in," said a spokesman for Dollywood. "Look at Goofy. You think that dog isn't using?"… Followers of Insane Clown Posse have announced details for the band's first-ever fan convention. Dubbed "The Gathering of the Juggalos," the two-day event will take place July 21-22 at the NoviExpo center in Detroit. The planned event includes live professional wrestling exhibitions and wrestling training workshops, a full-sized haunted house, live circus sideshow, a Juggalo beauty contest, large-scale Faygo soda pop war, extreme sports demonstrations, art contests, a free-play arcade stocked with all the newest games, plus carnival games and attractions. No word from organizers if anyone will show up considering there is no data available to prove that ICP actually have fans… Music producer and former Blackstreet member Teddy Riley has reached a settlement in a slander lawsuit filed against a former bandmate. The lawsuit claimed former Blackstreet member Chauncey Hannibal defamed Riley on MTV and five East Coast radio stations by playing a rap song called "Shame on You" that accused Riley of dishonesty. Details of the settlement reached last week were not revealed, but sources said Riley and Hannibal had at least promised to stop referring to one another as "bee-yatch."
