Teller's Post Modern/hip-hop-leaning online music destination Atomic Pop has pacted with Ross' tech player CDKnet to allow users to make custom audio and video CDs of Atomic-affiliated artists.
Using CDKnet's MixFactory ™ app, visitors can select songs and clips by such acts as Public Enemy, Ice-T, Blood of Abraham, The Breeders, The Pixies, Cocteau Twins and, of course, Gas Giants. The discs are playable in both standard CD players and—for video viewing—a computer's CD-ROM drive.
If the users are college students, they can then use the completed CD to barter with their off-campus friends for Napster access. Ain't technology wunnerful?
Our attempts to locate the Mixfactory ™ URL provided in the press release for the deal (www.mixfactory.com) got us a "cannot find server" message. Must be those cyber-terrorists at work again. But that's not gonna dampen anyone's spirits. Our idea of a hacker is someone with smoker's cough.
"By including MixFactory ™ custom CD technology as part of their Web site offering, Atomic Pop is breaking new ground in artist promotion," declared CDKnet Entertainment Group President Ross™. "But you ain't seen nothin' yet—Teller is doing some incredible stuff with Zip disks."
