Current Rock Hall of Famers
The Beatles,
Jimi Hendrix,
The Eagles,
The Byrds,
Derek and the Dominos and
Buffalo Springfield have now had their work inducted into the
Grammy Hall of Fame.
Among the 49 recordings announced as the Class Of 2000 inductees by
NARAS President
Michael Greene were three Beatles' albums: "A Hard Day's Night," "Rubber Soul" and "The Beatles" (better known as "The White Album")--bringing the group's Grammy Hall Of Fame count to nine. The Beatles’ "Revolver," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Abbey Road" had all been previously inducted. Other rock albums selected for inclusion this year were "Desperado" by The Eagles and "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" by The Byrds.
"Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, "For What It’s Worth" by Buffalo Springfield and "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos were each inducted as singles. Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler’s "Ballad Of The Green Berets" was, once again, overlooked.
"It is an honor to add these great musicians and these timeless albums to the hallowed halls of the Grammy Hall of Fame," said NARAS President Greene, who earned a cool 25 Gs just for saying that.
