Sixx and former Crue drummer Tommy Lee were arrested following the October 1997 concert at Greensboro (NC) Coliseum in which Sixx allegedly directed racial slurs at a black guard, encouraged the crowd to attack him and (along with Lee) poured beer on his head. Sixx was originally charged with a felony count of riot with ethnic intimidation, assault and disorderly conduct. Under Sixx’s plea arrangement, prosecutors reduced the felony riot charge to inciting a riot, a misdemeanor.
In addition to the suspended jail sentence, Sixx was fined $150 plus court costs. The court also ordered 50 hours of community service, half of which would be commuted if Sixx sat through the non-explicit passages of the Tommy Lee/Pamela Lee sex tape without fast-forwarding.
Still pending is a civil suit filed by the security guard seeking more than $75,000 for claims including verbal assault, battery and intentional infliction of mental distress.
