BMG/Arista has completed re-negotiation talks with Carlos Santana, signing the super-hot guitarist to a major new deal that will keep him at the label.
Santana renewed at Arista despite outgoing label chief clive davis',390,400);">clive davis',390,400);">Clive Davis' well-documented participation in the mega-selling "Supernatural" and Santana's declaration that he would like to continue to work with Davis.
The guitarist is expected to hold a press conference Wednesday (6/28) to discuss his re-signing, sources said.
As BMG and former Arista chief Davis and his camp put the final touches on a new joint venture deal, more details of his new label are beginning to leak out. Sources said that such Arista artists as LFO, Deborah Cox, Shannon Curfman and Next, among others, will be joining the legendary music man at his new label.
In addition, Davis can sign any Arista artists whose contracts have expired if he so chooses, sources said.
Meanwhile, Arista will retain Whitney Houston and Kenny G, two of its biggest sellers. Sources said Houston still owes the company two albums.
