Successful Soundtracks For "The ‘60s," "The ‘70s" Spur Launch Of NBC Records
Due to the success of soundtracks like "The ‘60s" and "The ‘70s," NBC Enterprises has launched its own music label, NBC Records.

Former Capitol Records executive Kim Niemi, who joined NBC as VP of music business development in December, will head the label along with NBC Enterprises Executive VP Jerry Petry. NBC Records has yet to sign on with a distribution partner.

The imprint's first artist signing is singer-songwriter Jane French.

The network will feature French performing on the show "Passions" and will also place French songs on other NBC series.

Other upcoming NBC Records releases include "Today Show Presents: The Best Of The Summer Concert Series, Vol. 1," an NBC Celebrity Christmas CD (along with EMI Special Markets and Metacom Music) and "The Soulful Sounds Of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.'" The label has yet to sign a distribution partner.

Prior to NBC Records' formation, NBC Enterprises produced "Saturday Night Live" CDs with DreamWorks Records, and "The ‘60s" and "The ‘70s" soundtracks with Mercury Records.
