MTV.COM TO BE EXCLUSIVE ADVANCE TICKET SELLER FOR METALLICA

Web Site To Sell Tix To Metal Gods’ "Summer Sanitarium" Tour Beginning Today, Ending Friday
MTV.com is offering tickets for Metallica's "Summer Sanitarium" tour before the tickets are available to the general public.

Beginning today and running through Friday (4/28), the Web site will be the exclusive ticket seller. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday (4/29).

MTV is the exclusive national media sponsor for the tour, which begins in Foxboro, MA, on June 30. Korn, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000 and System Of A Down are also on the bill.

MTV is a network where kids can watch their favorite videos of their favorite bands without paying a dime! (Considering that their parents are probably footing the cable bill.) These videos can be duplicated and traded among fans with no compensation at all going to the artists involved!

This news should in no way be compared to the Limp Bizkit free tour sponsored by Napster, as there is no irony to be found here at all. Nope, no similarities here. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along.

In other ticket news, punk legends Bad Religion are offering a bonus to fans who purchase the band's forthcoming Atlantic release "The New America"—free tickets. Those who buy the disc within six days of its May 9 release can send a copy of the sales receipt and the proof-of-purchase from the CD insert to the band's P.O. Box in exchange for a show ticket of their choice.

The "New America" Tour kicks off Sept. 26 in Pomona, CA, and runs through early November.

In the meantime, the band will be opening for Blink-182, beginning May 11 in San Diegoand wrapping up June 30 in Kansas City. Those tour dates are not included in the free ticket offer.
