Rob Goldklang has been upped to SVP, Alternative Promotion at Warner Bros. Records, EVP Peter Gray has announced. The promotion coincides with Goldklang’s celebration of 20 years at the label, which he joined as a college rep.
During that time, Gray notes, Goldklang “has played a key role in both launching and guiding the careers of a powerful group of artists,” including Red Hot Chili Peppers (12 #1 singles), Linkin Park (11 #1s), Muse (with the all-time #1 Alternative airplay single, “Madness,” which spent 19 weeks at the top) and The Black Keys. His airplay campaigns have racked up 85 weeks at #1. The promo veteran's recent successes include lengthy chart runs for Atlas Genius and Big Data (the latter hitting #1 and spending 44 weeks on the chart) and Top 10 status for U.K. breakouts Royal Blood.
“Rob’s passion for our artists and their music is matched only by his fearlessness for delivering invaluable airplay,” says Gray. “Artists, managers, radio programmers and music executives alike admire and respect the consistent and continued results of Rob’s career. I’m very proud to acknowledge this well-deserved promotion, and privileged to work alongside Rob Goldklang each day.”
Noted Goldklang, “I am thrilled to be continuing to grow at my career’s home, Warner Bros. Records—and very grateful for the influence our company, our artists and their music have had on me and my family. It brings me great satisfaction to watch artists walk in the door as kids with big dreams and return over the years as global superstars through hits we take to the top of the charts. My thanks and appreciation to Peter for supporting this exciting new step for me.”
