With Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) overtaking Drake for the top spot, the race is on to see who, if anyone, can get to #1 before DJ Khaled f/Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne’s “I’m The One” (We The Best) does. Epic’s Sujit Kundu is trying to squeeze Future’s “Mask Off” (A1/Freebandz), which is currently at #5 and up 490 spins, up there this coming week. Interestingly, Future’s never had a #1 at the Rhythm format. Suj and company just dropped a remix featuring Kendrick Lamar, just in time for the huge mix show weekend. Khaled’s “I’m The One” moves #11-9, gaining 950 spins. Epic also has French Montana’s “Unforgettable” (Bad Boy) at #20, adding an additional 300 spins to his total. They’re also just starting Rick Ross f/Young Thug & Wale’s “Trap Trap Trap” and Big Boi f/Killer Mike & Jeezy’s “Kill Jill”—both of which impacted last week. They released Camila Cabello’s “Crying in the Club” (SYCO) on Friday and are impacting it this week. That one will have a huge week at Top 40, and the goal is 20 new stations here at Rhythm... Standing in Sujit’s way is Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia with Calvin Harris f/Frank Ocean & Migos’ “Slide,” which moves #5-3 this week, gaining 260 spins. It’s going to be a dog fight, and it is all predicated on Kendrick starting to slow way down. They also have Ayo & Teo‘s “Rolex” at #22, after an increase of 185 spins. The sales and streams are still strong on this one. The Chainsmokers & Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This” (Disruptor) continues to develop. It lands at #29 and is up 150 spins. Be ready for new music from Russ with “Me You,” which is impacting 6/5... In the redundancy department, Glassnote’s Childish Gambino “Redbone” is a real hit. It’s now the #2 most Shazam’d record in the U.S, and is inside the Top 10 at Rhythm. All signs point to this being his biggest record ever... Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee continue to grow Post Malone‘s “Congratulations,” which was up another 150 spins and is at #8. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee f/Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” (UMLE/RBMG/Def Jam) remains red-hot, as it moves inside the Top 15 and tacks on another 570 spins. All signs point to this being a smash. The Weeknd’s “Reminder” (XO) is already Top 25, thanks to an increase of 660 spins this week. Drake’s “Portland” (YMCMB) is up 210 spins and is now #30. They debut NAV‘s “Myself” (XO) at #39 this week, and are re-impacting Nicki Minaj’s “Regret In Your Tears” (YMCMB), as well as Liam Payne f/Quavo’s “Strip That Down” this week.... Rick Sackheim and Noah Sheer at Def Jam debut Logic f/Alessia Cara & Khalid’s “1-800-273-8255” this week, thanks in large part to the 290-spin increase. Big Sean’s “Jump Out The Window” (G.O.O.D.) is right behind, and will debut next week. It was up 225 spins. 2 Chainz’s “Good Drank” inches closer to debuting as well, as it lands at #47 this week, up 65 spins. YG f/DJ Mustard’s “Pop It, Shake It” is just getting started, and was up 155 spins… RCA’s Inca and Lori G have Khalid’s “Location” (Right Hand) at #4, and Chris Brown’s “Privacy” at #19. It was up another 200 spins. Kid Ink f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “F With U” (Tha Alumni/88 Classic) slides up to #31, and gains 255 spins. Wizkid f/Drake’s “Come Closer” (Starboy) and Goldlink’s “Crew” (Squaash Crew) continue to grow and develop. Bryson Tiller’s “Somethin’ Tells Me” (Trapsoul) has an impressive first week, gaining 265 spins and is a week away from debuting. SZA f/Travis Scott’s “Love Galore” (Top Dawg) is just getting started, but has a solid buzz on it.
