THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

If you are even a casual sports fan, this weekend was a cornucopia of amazing events. Three baseball teams’ seasons hinged on the very last game of the season—162 regular season games, and it was the last one that got the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays into the playoffs. The Mets squeaked in as well. If you are a college football fan, the Clemson vs. Louisville game was off the charts. Clemson stormed out of the gates, and opened up a two-touchdown lead. The Louisville Cardinals came roaring back, and it was back and forth the entire second half. Clemson squeaked it out at the end, as Louisville had a shot to win at the end. And as a golf fan, the Ryder Cup this weekend was astounding. U.S.A held a slight lead going into the final day. It was all individual matches, and Phil Mickelson vs. Sergio Garcia was one of the best head-to-head matches I have ever seen. They ended up tied, but that helped the U.S win back the cup. Just as impressive was Justin Reed’s win over Rory McIlroy, who had the pro-U.S. crowd going crazy the entire match. Wow, what a sports weekend! Back to real life, and music.

Republic’s Drake f/ Rihanna’s “Too Good” (YMCMB) continues to claim the top spot, and should hold there for another week. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole also own the biggest record out right now, The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (XO). It shoots #35-18, gaining an astonishing 1,485 spins! Ariana Grande f/ Nicki Minaj’s “Side to Side” also had a solid week, as it climbs #33-26, adding 280 spins to her total. They debut Amine’s “Caroline” at #40. It was up 170 spins, and continues to grab new believers every week. Post Malone f/Justin Bieber’s “Déjà vu” just misses at #42. It gains 180 spins, and looks to debut next week.

Epic’s Sujit Kundu sees DJ Khaled f/Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown’s “Do You Mind” (We The Best) slide two slots to #12, up 280 spins. They also take Young Thug & Travis $cott’s “Pick Up The Phone” top 25. It gains 215 spins, its best gain in the life of the record! Jidenna’s “Little Bit More” continues to develop, as does Kent Jones’ “Alright” (We The Best). Zara Larsson’s “Ain’t My Fault” tacks on 40 more spins, as she finds new believers each week.

Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness continue to grow Major Lazer f/ Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water”(Mad Decent). It holds at #5, but gains 135 spins. It gains a very impressive 465 spins this week, and was the highest debuting track. Desiigner’s “Tiimmy Turner” (G.O.O.D.) is at #38, and Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) has an impressive first week, gaining 215 spins. That is good enough to land her at #52 on the chart.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White are pushing The Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (Disruptor) toward the top 5. It moves to #7 this week, up 320 spins. Beyonce’s “Hold Up” also gains 255 spins, good enough to bring her to #17 this week. Russ’ “What They Want” climbs inside the top 20, thanks to a 285-spin increase. Be ready for a new John Legend, titled “Love Me Now,” impacting next week.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G have Rob $tone “Chill Bill” landing at #36. It was up 155 spins, as the buzz continues to pick up. Ayo Jay’s “Your Number” is at #55, and Pitbull f/Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis’ “Green Light” is at #65. They are impacting Usher f/Future’s “Rivals” this week. It’s the follow-up to “No Limit,” which was top 5 at the format.
