We’re now officially in Holiday sales mode. Last week, we saw how
Andy's a Belieber. |
Def Jam’s Justin Bieber, Alessia Cara and Logic performed along with SYCO/Columbia’s One Direction. Both Bieber and 1D scored debuts north of 400k, with Logic around 100k. Next, we’ll witness Adele’s power as 25 is released to the world. Speaking of Adele, she performed Tuesday in NYC and I was fortunate enough to attend. On another note, I’d like to congratulate Brandon "Buster" Satterfield for getting the PD gig at WNOW Indy and Shady Spencer for his new gig as PD of WLTO Lexington. Both are well respected and we welcome them back to radio! And what a great time of year if you’re sports fan. The NFL is beginning to get serious. College football has huge upsets every week as top teams jockey for one of the four playoff spots. College basketball (my personal favorite) kicked off this weekend, and the NBA and NHL are just getting started. There’s always something great happening to get your sports fix.
Getting back to the music, Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” (YMCMB) holds the #1 spot for a third week. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole are currently impacting The Weeknd’s new track, “In the Night” (XO). He’s coming off three #1 records, and there’s a good chance this one will be Most Added on Tuesday. Post Malone’s “White Iverson” climbs to #6, up 335 spins, and is starting to crossover to Top 40 as well. Ariana Grande’s “Focus” leaps #27-18 and gains 855 spins, which is good enough for the biggest increase this week. Drake & Future’s “Jumpman” (YMCMB/A1/Epic) sits at #27 with a 445 spin increase, while Dawin f/Silento’s “Dessert” (Casablanca) is up 80 spins. Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (Island) is at #42, and Adrian Marcel’s “Take Your Time” (L7) is at #50.
Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness get Alessia Cara’s “Here” into the #3 position with a 445-spin increase this week. Justin Bieber has two on the chart with “What Do You Mean?” at #5 and “Sorry” already posted at #19, gaining 375 spins. Big Sean’s “Play No Games” (G.O.O.D.) moves up to #13, picking up an additional 190 spins. 2 Chainz’ “Watch Out,” Rick Ross’ “Sorry” (MMG) and Jeremih’s “Oui” are all growing and a few weeks from charting.
Over at RCA, John Strazza, Inca and Lori G take Chris Brown’s “Zero” inside the Top 10 to land at #9, up 185 spins. Tinashe f/Chris Brown’s “Player” climbs #18-14, up 280 spins. Newcomer Bryson Tiller and his debut single “Don’t” move to #43, adding 180 spins. G Eazy’s “Me, Myself, and I” comes in at #43 with a 235 spin increase. This one’s surely a lock to debut next week.
Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia continue to do their thing with Dej Loaf f/Big Sean’s “Back Up,” moving it to #11, up 290 spins. J. Cole’s “No Role Modelz” (Roc Nation) also goes Top 15, tacking on another 175 spins. Adele’s “Hello” (XL) leaps #32-23 this week, adding 460 spins. They’re impacting The Chainsmokers f/Rozes’ “Roses” this week. It’s up 40 spins at Rhythm and nearly 500 spins at Top 40.
Epic’s Sujit Kundu has Travi$ Scott’s “Antidote” (Grand Hustle) at #16, up 310 spins as it continues to gain momentum. Meghan Trainor f/John Legend’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” sits at #37, up 60 spins, while it proves to be a real hit at Top 40 and approaches Top 10 there.
