What do Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins have in common with you and me? We all have the same amount of Sweet 16 appearances. The much heralded freshmen for Duke and Kansas couldn’t lead their teams to the next level in what is likely to be their one year of college. That said, this March Madness has to be one of the most unpredictable in recent history. Who would have picked Kentucky, Dayton, Tennessee or UConn going to the Sweet 16? Needless to say, my bracket once again looks like a block of Swiss cheese. At least there are some amazing storylines to follow and some real Cinderellas to get behind… And going with the NCAA tournament theme, Columbia records is a definite 1 Seed. Ayelet Schiffman and James White have the top record in the land with Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” and John Legend’s “All of Me” is close behind at #8. It’s up over 500 spins and headed towards Top 5. They also have Beyoncé’s “Partition” leaping #17-12, increasing 450 spins, as well as DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” at #14, up 400 spins. They’re getting started with Calvin Harris’ “Summer,” which just charted at Pop this week… Republic remains hot as Lorde’s “Team” sits at #9 and looks to move up again this week. Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have Young Money f/Drake’s “Trophies” going #30-20 and increasing 370 spins, in addition to Martin Garrix’s “Animals” at #22 and up triple digits. The Chainsmokers’ “#SELFIE” is also doing big things, as it moves inside the Top 25 and has a number of new commitments and increases this week. Bubbling under the chart is Adrian Marcel’s “2AM” and Young Money f/Nicki Minaj’s “Looking Ass.”… Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness at IDJ show no signs of slowing down as Jay Z f/Beyoncé’s “Part II (On the Run)” moves into the Top 15, and Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” slides up to #17 this week, up 175 spins. YG f/Drake’s “Who Do You Love” leaps #39-32, increasing 250 spins, but the move of the week goes to Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” which debuts at #33 and gains over 410 spins! This record and artist are definitely going to the next level. Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)” is at #36, and Ludacris f/Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih & Cashmere Cat’s “Party Girls” sits just outside the chart. This week, they impact August Alsina f/B.o.B. & Yo Gotti’s “Numb.”… RCA continues winning with Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne’s “Loyal” at #6, up nearly 400 spins. Look for this to be in the Top 5 next week. John Strazza, Inca and Lori G also debut Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s new “Main Chick” at #40, gaining more than 210 spins this week. They also have Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing,” which is up 163 spins and will debut next week, as well as Pitbull f/GRL’s “Wild Wild Love” and Tinashe f/Schoolboy Q’s “2 On” just off the chart, and growing nicely… Sujit Kundo and Epic continue to develop a solid story with Kat Dhalia’s “Crazy.” It was up 95 spins this week and moves to #37. They’re also looking to debut Future f/Pharrell’s “Move That Doh” this coming week. It’s already inside the chart on the building chart… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. are poised to take Jason Derulo f/2 Chainz’ “Talk Dirty” to #1 this coming week. It sits at the top on the building chart, and would give him his 2nd #1 of his career… Nick P at Glassnote has Childish Gambino’s “3005” climbing the chart, as well. It continues to build a sales story, as well as new commitments each week. Don’t sleep on this one!
