It was quite a strange week on the Rhythm chart. From #7 through #31, only five records are down, and all five of those records were down last week as well. With all of these current records moving up, it’s making it harder to break though with new songs. For the most part, Powers and sub-powers have remained the same the last 2-3 weeks, making the new music and night slots even more crowded. These next six or seven reporting weeks are going to be survival of the fittest… As far as the chart goes, the only newcomer to the Top 5 this week is Lorde’s “Royals.” Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have taken this record to #3 after just seven weeks on the chart. Republic still has the #1 record in the land as well, with Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” It continues to increase in spins every week as well. They also own the only record to join the Top 10 this week, Ariana Grande f/Big Sean’s “Right There.” It moves #13-10 and increases 244 spins. Sage the Gemini’s “Gas Pedal” jumps #14-12, up 148 spins. Drake f/2 Chainz and Big Sean “All Me” hits #25 with an increase of 195 spins, and DJ Khaled “I Wanna Be With You” hops #34-30, up 139 spins. Sage the Gemini’s next track, “Red Nose,” is just under the chart, and Republic teams up with RCA this week to impact Sia f/The Weeknd’s “Elastic Heart,” from the new Hunger Games soundtrack … Speaking of RCA, John Strazza, Inca, and Lori G have Chris Brown f/Nicki Minaj’s “Love More” headed north, going #5-4 and up 114 spins. In addition, Justin Timberlake’s “TKO” leaps #18-14, up 310 spins, and Miley Cyrus hops #25-22 with an increase of 219 spins. T Pain’s “Up Down” leaps #37-31 and up 82 spins, and they debut Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Show Me,” which was the Most Added record last week, at #38. Just outside the chart, they have Pitbull f/Ke$ha’s “Timber,” which is poised to chart this coming week… IDJ continues winning, as Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer, and Scott Maness have August Alsina going #16-13, up 200 spins. They also have Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” inside the Top 15, with an increase of 94 spins. Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” takes a huge leap from #21-17 and is up 361 spins, while Rihanna’s “What Now” goes #30-28 with an increase of 125 spins. They also have two buzz records just outside of the chart—Iggy Azalea f/T.I.’s “Change Your Life” and Maejor Ali f/Juicy J and Justin Bieber’s “Lolly” are both cutting through the pack. They impact Rick Ross f/Future’s new “No Games” this week… At Columbia, Ayelet Schiffman and James White have Juicy J’s “Bounce It” at #28*, as well as Naya Rivera f/Big Sean’s “Sorry” debuting at #39 this week. They are shipping a new J. Cole track, “She Knows,” to mixshow shortly... Epic continues to build Future’s “Honest” this week, moving to #23 with an increase of over 100 spins. Dixie Tipton and team also impacted Ciara’s “Overdose” this past week, and continue to gather new stations… WB continues to grow Macklemore’s “White Walls” each and every week. It goes #10-8, jumping 275 spins. Lee L’Heureux also continues to move Jason Derulo up the chart, going #31-29 with an increase of 193 spins.
