U.K. MIDWEEKS: IN WITH THE NEW

There’s a host of new entries in today’s U.K. Official Singles and Albums midweek update, with the debut single from Voice U.K. winner Ruti and a Calvin Harris-Dua Lipa duet topping one chart and Kylie Minogue’s new album leading on the other.

Ruti was crowned winner of the TV talent show over the weekend, and the 18-year-old has released a cover of The Cranberries 1992 track “Dreams” (Polydor). It’s at the top of the iTunes chart, but nowhere to be seen on Spotify’s Top 50 today; Harris and Lipa’s "One Kiss" (Columbia) is #4 on the streaming service.

There are only 6k combined sales separating the entire Official Singles Chart Top 10 so the top spot is still in play. The third highest new entry is the surprise release from Drake, “Nice For What” (Island), at #8.

Over on the Official Albums midweek update, Kylie is on course for her sixth #1 album in Blighty with Golden (BMG) shifting 34k combined sales so far. She’s outperforming by 3:1 Thirty Seconds to Mars, who are set for their highest U.K. chart place yet with America (Polydor).

The third highest new entry today is from The Courteeners at #4 with a reworked version of their debut album, St. Jude Re:Wired (Ignition).

Further down, Eels are at #6 with their self-released Deconstruction and Blackberry Smoke is #7 with Find A Light (Earache). Tom Misch is at #8 with Geography (Kobalt) and Cardi B has started at #8 with Invasion of Privacy (Atlantic).
