HITS Daily Double

It's now official: Republic prez Charlie Walk is joining the cast of Fox’s The Four: Battle for Stardom as a judge, alongside DJ Khaled and the mogul formerly known as Puffy (aka Brother Love) as well as Epic singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor. The six-episode season kicks off Thursday, 1/4 at 8pm ET/PT with a two-hour premiere.

Republic is the label partner, while iHeartRadio is also participating, with On the Verge status reserved for the grand-prize winner, with airplay on affiliated stations nationwide as well as online. iHeart will also assist in the audition process and talent search.

“What lies at the heart of the music business is ‘talent,’” reads a quote from Walk. “Discovering and developing talent remains the most important, consistent driver of my home, Republic Records, and now The Four. I’m thrilled to be joining this incredible panel of my longtime friends, Sean, Khaled and Meghan, to help make the difference on a platform that’s truly committed to identifying and breaking the next generation of superstars. We will guide them, advise them, and be with them every step of the way on their journey, starting on the most transparent stage in television. Now, if somebody doesn't bring me a Pellegrino in ten seconds I'm gonna go fucking ballistic."

“Diddy, DJ Khaled, Meghan and Charlie are giants in the music space,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials, Fox Broadcasting Company. “They understand what an artist needs to break through. Also, I'm told at least one of them will be able to charter me a helicopter.”

The series will see four artists defending their spots against challengers and vying to make the final round. It was created by Armoza Formats and is produced by ITV Entertainment in association with Armoza Formats. Becca Walker, David Friedman, David George, Adam Sher, David Eilenberg, Moshiko Cohen, Elwin Vizetelly de Groot and Nehama Cohen are executive producers.
