HITS Daily Double

Taylor Swift has shifted 65k combined sales of reputation (Virgin EMI) in the U.K. at the halfway stage. Can she top the 90k 1989 did to debut at #1 on the Official Albums Chart in 2014? Over at singles, Camila Cabello is eyeing a third week at #1 with “Havana” f/Young Thug (Syco).

Swift is set for #1 on Friday, which will be her third in Blighty after Red hit the top spot on 61k in 2012 and 1989 did the same with 90k in 2014. In terms of singles, releases from reputation have performed well so far when compared to prior album campaigns. "LWYMMD" awarded Swift her debut #1 in Blighty, followed by ".... Ready For It?" peaking at #7. After entering at #15 on the Official Chart, "Gorgeous" has since declined to #47. Red garnered two Top 5 singles and two more Top 10s overall, while 1989 had two Top 5s and one more in the Top 10. Radio support has been fair, if not heavy, with "Gorgeous" currently at #34 on the Radiomonitor charts and "LWYMMD" at #47 after peaking at #25.

Last week’s #1, Sam Smith’s The Thrill of it All (Capitol), is down to #2 with nearly half of Swift’s sales so far. The second highest album chart entry is from rock band Shed Seven, whose fifth studio set Instant Pleasures (Infectious Music) starts at #3.

Other new entrants include Tears For Fears with Rule The WorldThe Greatest Hits (Virgin EMI) at #6, Elton John’s best of Diamonds (Virgin EMI) at #7 and The Corrs with Jupiter Calling (East West) at #10.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, two MTV EMA performers are battling for the top spot. Cabello is currently 2k sales ahead of Rita Ora with “Anywhere” (Atlantic) at #2, while Post Malone moves down to #3 with “Rockstar” f/21 Savage (Island).

This week’s highest new entry looks set to be Eminem, who also performed at the MTV EMAs, with “Walk On Water” f/Beyonce (Polydor).
