U.K. CHARTS: FOOS FIGHT TO THE TOP

Foo Fighters have scored a fourth #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Concrete and Gold shifting 61k combined sales. Ferdy Unger Hamilton’s Columbia now boasts four of the Top 10 biggest-selling week one albums of 2017.

Foo Fighters join Rag’n’Bone Man (117k), Kasabian (52k) and Harry Styles (57k) in Hamilton’s list of opening week sales stars. Concrete and Gold is the sixth #1 album from the Sony U.K. label this year; Arcade Fire and The Script also hit the top spot.

At #2, Gary Newman has his first Top 10 album in 35 years with Savage (Songs From a Broken World) (BMG). The third highest new entry this week goes to supergroup Prophets of Rage, who land at #6 with their self-titled debut (Caroline).

Thanks to a 500% sales boost driven by his Mercury Music Prize win, Young Turks act Sampha rises 145 spots to end the week at #7 with debut Process. The song he played during the ceremony, “(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano,” has enjoyed a 265% rise on streaming services, earning an additional 342k streams this last week.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Sam Smith spends his second week at #1 with “Too Good at Goodbyes” (Capitol). This week’s highest new entry is “Rockstar” (Island) by Post Malone f/21 Savage, which has greatly improved its midweek peak of #15, and ends at #5. Further down, Niall Horan’s “Too Much to Ask” (Virgin EMI) enters at #24.
