MUSICIANS COME TOGETHER TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE

Working in conjunction with UN Development Programme (UNDP) and 350.org, Pathway to Paris has organized the Concert to Fight Climate Change at New York’s Carnegie Hall on 11/5, featuring Patti Smith and Michael Stipe.

The event will include speakers and music intended to increase awareness of climate change and its ramifications, and ways in which environmental action can be taken. It coincides with COP 23–the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change–scheduled from 11/6-17 in Bonn, Germany,

Speakers and performers include Stipe, Smith, Bill McKibben, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Tanya Tagaq, Flea, Talib Kweli, Cat Power, Tenzin Choegyal, and Pathway to Paris founders Rebecca Foon and Jesse Paris Smith.

"This is our moment to move towards a renewable, resilient future as we are running out of time," Foon said. "We can achieve this by working together to create resilient cities that are no longer dependent on fossil fuels and create a world we want to live in."

"We believe in the power of music and its ability to heal and unify citizens in a time of crisis. We must make this fight our biggest most ambitious collaboration of all time. The world must work as a team, and the cities of our planet must join together to lead the way," added Smith.
