SANO SYNCS WITH REPUBLIC

Music supervisor and former New Line Cinema executive Dana Sano will be running the film and TV business for Republic Records out of the label’s L.A. office.

Monte and Avery Lipman named Sano as Executive Vice President of Film & Television to oversee all film and television projects and augment the launch of the new Federal Films initiative, which will explore non-traditional opportunities for film and TV on behalf of Republic in conjunction with Universal Music Group's Polygram Entertainment division. “I’ve always admired Dana’s independence, resourcefulness, and long-standing relationships with today’s top filmmakers and studio executives; her ability to navigate seamlessly through shark-infested waters of Hollywood is nothing short of extraordinary,” Monte Lipman said. Sano is working on the third installment of Fifty Shades of Grey: Freed; she was the supe on the first two films in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise and worked with Republic on the animated series Beat Bugs. Among the films she has music supervised are Baywatch, Hot Tub Time Machine and One Chance. TV credits include The Goldbergs and Breaking In.

“An entrepreneurial engine drives Republic,” Sano said. “They’re constantly looking ahead, innovating, and setting the pace for the industry at large. Republic’s expansion into content branding will allow for bigger opportunities in the film, TV and theatre mediums.”
