The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

Fox's War for the Planet of the Apes debuted at #1 at the domestic box office this weekend, pulling in approximately $57m—slightly higher than the studio's expectations. Meanwhile, Lionsgate's talked-about The Big Sick expanded, tacking on 2,271 theaters, earning around $7.6m (+112.5%) and jumping #8-5.
