Did director Allen Hughes spill the beans about a Dr. Dre-Eminem collaboration in the works?
While publicizing the four-part HBO series The Defiant Ones about Dre and Jimmy Iovine, Hughes told Uproxx, “Right now [Dr. Dre’s] producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album.”
Eminem teased the album, which would be his ninth overall and first in four years, on a Facebook post last year. His only recent appearance on record is on Big Sean’s “No Favors.” Dre produced Eminem's Aftermath/Interscope debut The Slim Shady LP in 1999.
Hughes mentioned Eminem while discussing Dre’s active life in the studio. “People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know?”
Part One of The Defiant Ones premiered Sunday. The series continues tonight through Wednesday.
