CORNELL'S MUSIC ALL OVER DIGITAL SERVICES (UPDATE)

The death of singer Chris Cornell continued to impact iTunes on Friday, a day after the news broke, as numerous Cornell-associated songs and albums remained high on the charts even after the store’s weekly turnover.

Indeed, Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” (#3) and Audioslave’s “Like a Stone” (#5) continued to climb. There are four Soundgarden tracks in the iTunes Top 50, along with four from Audioslave and two from Temple of the Dog. Monday saw Superunknown hanging in at #6 on the album chart.

On Thursday, the 20th anniversary edition of 1994’s Superunknown (A&M) rocketed to #1. The grunge landmark has dropped only one slot on Friday morning, while Audioslave’s self-titled Interscope debut is #5 followed by Soundgarden’s second album Badmotorfinger at #11. Cornell’s solo album Songbook is now #13, 1991’s Temple of the Dog album (A&M/Universal) is #18, his solo sets Higher Truth (Polydor/UMe) is #23 and Soundgarden’s final album before their initial split, Down on the Upside (A&M), is #24. The newly re-released Singles soundtrack (Sony Legacy) is just outside of the Top 25 at #27. And on the Spotify landing page, a This Is: Chris Cornell playlist is front and center.

In the last four days, meanwhile, Pandora listeners have added over 400k stations combined for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Chris Cornell.

Cornell died Wednesday in a Detroit hotel after a Soundgarden concert.
