JUST IN TIME: MUSIC'S MOST INFLUENTIAL

Time's annual list of the world's 100 Most Influential People features acknowledgments of music industry greats for their work as artists, producers, storytellers and activists. Divided into "Pioneer," "Artist," "Leader," "Titan" and "Icon" categories, a who's-who of music's biggest names are represented in four of the five categories. Artists like Ed Sheeran (pictured), Chance the Rapper, Alicia Keys and Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), John Legend, Demi Lovato and Riz Ahmed received accolades for trailblazing feats, as well as their outstanding contributions to music and pop culture. And Spotify's Daniel Ek was recognized for changing the way people listen to music.

Members of the music community weren't just receiving acknowledgments on this year's list, they were also writing them, Common being responsible for Chance's generous nod and Taylor Swift having written Ed Sheeran's commendation. Elton John penned for Carpool Karaoke mastermind and this year's Grammy host James Corden. Lin-Manuel Miranda was of course responsible for the words on Hamilton comrade Riz Ahmed, and DJ Khaled appropriately dished on Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. Other contributing writers include A$AP Rocky (on Raf Simons), Harry Belafonte (on John Legend) and Ed Sheeran (on Daniel Ek).
